Obituary

Jackson, Robert Allen of Mount Dora, 90, passed away on April 4, 2016 in Tavares, FL. He was born in Mooresville, NC on June 29, 1925 to the late Ulysses Jackson and Carrie Ella Hunsucker. He was the youngest of 10 siblings. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Mary Ann Bradford Jackson Streeter, Wardsboro, VT and youngest son, George Bradford Jackson, Wardsboro, VT. He is survived by his son, Allen Larry Jackson, Wilmington, VT; son, Glenn Steven Jackson, Tallahassee, FL and daughter, Ann Mary Jackson Garwood (husband, Terry Garwood), Moravian Falls, NC; 4 grandsons; 3 granddaughters; 4 great grandsons and 8 great granddaughters.

He served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II on the USS Ault DD-698 Destroyer and was present at the signing of the Japanese Surrender in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945. During his career, he worked for the railroad, the American Can Company, and owned and operated several service stations, a U-Haul business and a Laundromat. He was a proud member of the VFW, AMVETS, American Legion and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing ping pong, pool, and horseshoes. He was known for his clam dip, boiled peanuts and pecan pie. He cherished family reunions and gatherings. Robert will be missed by all and will live in our hearts forever.
