Ronald Shaut - 66 years old - passed away January 13, 2017 at his residence in Umatilla, FL. Ronald was born on September 10, 1950 in Chelsea Massachusetts. Ron joined the Army in 1968, where he served three consecutive tours of service; two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea. Ron's rank was an E-5 where he held the CIB badge along with several other ribbons. During his tour in Vietnam, he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze star for his service.
After leaving the service in 1971, Ron returned to his home in Maryland where he began his involvement in the American Legion Post 108. During his involvement, Ron held positions as First Vice Commander and the Commander where he went on to become a State Representative of Maryland. While in the American Legion Ron posted colors with his late Brother Jimmy Shaut and several other Legionnaires for the opening games of the Washington Red Skins.
After becoming the owner of the Shautgun 500 Go-Kart track and working in construction for several years, Ron relocated to Florida where he pursued a Business Degree. He later used this degree to become the owner\ manager at 5th Street Char House in Leesburg, FL. Following this, he volunteered at the Triangle Bingo Hall in Mount Dora, Florida for 16 years, retiring in September 2016.
During his lifetime, Ron devoted time at the Veterans Organization of Resource and Recovery for the Homeless (VORRH) in Eustis, FL. Ron was responsible for forming the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1026 where he served as president. He was also a Life Member of ABATE, Lake County Chapter and a Life Member of the AMVETS Post 1992 in Mount Dora, FL.
Ron, also known as "Shautgun", "Uncle Ronnie" and "Pops" was well-known for his love of family, motorcycles, fishing, boating, dancing and dressing sharply.
Ron is survived by his wife Helen Shaut of Umatilla, FL, mother Helen B. Shaut of Leesburg, FL, his six children, Ronnie Lee Shaut Jr. of Frederick MD, Tony Arthur of Millersville, MD, Tracy Zambrana of Sorento, FL, Tonia Chadwick of Eustis, FL, Bambi Chadwick of Eustis, FL, and Michael Hamilton of Leesburg, FL, his two brothers David Shaut of Howie in the Hills, FL and Fred Shaut of Leesburg, FL his two sisters Karen Kramer of Maryland and Susan Goodson of Leesburg, FL, and his twelve grandchildren who he loved dearly.
