Obituary

Rosemarie C. Walsh of Mount Dora, Florida died on January 5, 2023, in Tavares, Florida. She was 94 years of age.
She was born in Watersmeet, Michigan on January 26, 1928. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse and taught school two years in Wisconsin prior to being commissioned an Ensign in the US Navy. She was a retired Navy Commander (line officer) who served during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Her decorations included Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and National Defense Medal (with Bronze Star). She attained her master's degree from George Washington University. After she retired, she was a Realtor/Broker in Winter Park for ten years before moving to Mount Dora in 1991.
She became a volunteer for Hospice Hope Chest, a member of Friends of the Library, the Mount Dora Golf Association, member of the Women's Guild of St. Patrick's, and a past president of the Mount Dora Lawn Bowling Club. She was a life member of the Retired Officers (USN) Association.
She is pre-deceased by sisters, Dr. Margaret Fenn, and Anastasia M. Eickhoff, her brother John Patrick Walsh, and her dear friend Hazel L. Hogan of Mount Dora. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
At Rosemarie's request a private gravesite service will be held at a later time. Internment will be at Pine Forest Cemetery in Mount Dora. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Dora Community Trust for the Lawn Bowling Club or UCF Scholarship Fund (Navy Nurse Fund) or St. Patrick's Catholic Church (Mount Dora) Building Fund.
