Ruth E. Grist, age 85, passed away January 30, 2017 at home. She was a resident of Tavares for 22 years. Ruth was the beloved wife of Wallace Samuel Grist who predeceased her in January 7, 2014. Ruth and Sam were married for 64 years. Ruth and her sister Sarah Conn married brothers Sam and Alfred Grist in a double wedding on June 17th, 1950.
She was born November 11, 1934 in Hubbard, Ohio, to Hugh and Emily (nee Jagger) Conn. Ruth is survived by, daughters, Becky Fisher of Tavares, FL, Samyra Tyler (Jim Tyler) of Winter Park, FL, son, Wallace S. Grist, Jr (Karen Grist) of Lindenhurst, Illinois, grandchildren, Elizabeth Bell, Jennifer Lopez, W. Samuel King, Jaclyn Dubrasky, Jill Chirinos Grist, and Kevin Grist and 9 great grandchildren. Ruth was pre-deceased by her daughter, Elnorah Grist, and 10 of her sisters and brothers of Hubbard, Ohio.
Ruth loved being with her family and she will be missed dearly. She was loved by all who knew her. Gentle, soft spoken and always with a smile, she was much admired by her friends and people who knew her. Ruth had a great sense of humor and loved entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards as well as going to bingo. As kids and adults the whole family really enjoyed all of the gourmet dinners she prepared. She was a caring, selfless and loving person always putting others before herself. The impact she made on so many lives and memories will live on forever.
