IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sara Ann
Granlund
May 15, 1938 – July 30, 2024
Sara Ann Granlund (Boerner), affectionately known as Sally, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024, at the age of 86, in Mount Dora, Florida. Born on May 15, 1938, in Traverse City, Michigan, Sally grew up to be a remarkable woman cherished by all who knew her.
Sally dedicated 33 years of her life to educating young minds at Clarkston Jr. High School in Michigan, where she taught Home Economics. Her passion for nurturing extended beyond her profession into her personal life, where she was a pillar of support and joy within her community and family.
A lifelong member of the Clarkston United and Mio United Methodist Churches, Sally's faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through her many years of service and community involvement. In addition to her church membership, Sally was also a member of the Red Hatters and Eastern Stars where she enjoyed planning many events and tea parties.
Sally was a loving mother and an adored friend, always available for lengthy conversations, especially when it came to sharing recipes or discussing the latest book she was reading. Her hobbies included reading, bowling and traveling, but she found the greatest joy in simply spending time with her family and friends. Sally found much happiness in traveling with family and friends. Some of her most cherished adventures included family trips to Disney World, cruises with her friends and traveling abroad to Italy.
She leaves behind a loving family that includes her three sons, Thor (Brenda), Gerik (Jill), Dane (Jennifer), along with her nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Sally was preceded in death by her parents William and Pauline Boerner.
A memorial service will be held in Mio, Michigan, at a later date to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mio United Methodist Women's Group at 1101 8th St., Mio, MI., 48647, honoring Sally's commitment to her church family.
