Shirley Howell, R.N., age 88, died peacefully at home June 1st surrounded by her loving children Deborah Malecki, Pam Wilde, Michael Howell and Sherrie Ingalsbe.

She is survived by her loving brother Donald Guthrie, her children and their spouses Arthur Wilde, Annmarie Downer and Ted Ingalsbe.

She was a loving Nana to her grandchildren Claire Santos, Brian Fifield, Jason (Candice) Spang, Shannon (David) Johansson, Jennifer (Eric) Shields, Christopher Howell, Ethan Howell, Joshua Marucci, Brittany (Beville) Reagan, Brandon (Jennifer) Barwick and great grandchildren Dylan and Mason Delaney, Madison and Mackenzie Spang, Emily and Margaret Rose Shields, Lexi Whitehurst, Jaxon and Aliza Reagan, Lane, Levvy and Noelle Barwick.  She loved spending time with each of them and following all of their individual activities.

Shirley worked as a registered nurse and nurse administrator for thirty years. She believed a nurse is a person with a strong desire to be of service to other people.  She was instrumental in setting up one of the first inpatient hospice units in Jacksonville, Florida and was named one of the top 100 nurses in Florida among many other contributions to the field of nursing.  She developed close relationships with her work family and her service continues through the many nurses she mentored, many of whom have gone on to leadership roles.

A Celebration of Life will be held at her home, located at 7720 Angelina View Court, Mount Dora, Florida, 32757, on July 8th, 2023, from 11am to 3pm.
