Obituary

Shirley (Bates) Masutti, age 79 went to live with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday February 4th. Shirley was loved and admired by those who knew her and will be missed. Shirley was born in Arcadia, Florida and was a lifelong Florida resident, most recently residing in Mt. Dora and Tavares. She enjoyed life, especially being a mom to her three daughters, a grandmother, great grandmother and attending church. Shirley was a self-taught musician who played the piano and sang during worship services at church. Her musical abilities lead many worship services and gave those who were blessed enough to hear her glimpse of heaven. Shirley was an unapologetic believer in Jesus Christ and lived her life knowing that she was only a temporary visitor to our world and would someday be called home to reside with Jesus. She shared God's message of hope with all of those she met and was never too tired to tell others about the wonderful gift of salvation.

Shirley's primary employment was that as a follower of Jesus Christ and to this task she gave her all. She hosted Good News Club backyard bible studies for children, opened her home to many Young Life events and influenced untold numbers of children, teens and adults. Shirley's official occupation was as an administrative assistant and she held several positions throughout the years, most recently as an administrative assistant for the State Attorney's Office in the ninth judicial circuit where she is fondly remembered as an excellent employee and a friend to all.

Shirley will be missed by all who knew her but mostly by her three adoring daughters, Susan (McEachnie), Terri (Horton) and Connie (Perry). They remember their mom as loving, caring and a mom who provided a good home and a wonderful example. Shirley is survived by her sister, Patricia (Bates) Smith , brother Wayne Bates, three daughters, her son in laws, Bill, Dean and Javier, her grandchildren, Kristian Bishop(Cody), Matthew McEachnie, Chad Horton(Marissa), Chante Perry, Chelsea Perry, Brooke Perry and Audrey Perry. Her great-grandchildren Chad Horton Jr., Logan Horton, Shannon Horton and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
