Shirley Ann Wade

Mrs. Shirley Ann Wade, 81, of Grand Island, passed away Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, at home.

Shirley, who was raised in Jacksonville, was a devoted mother, homemaker and military wife who lived throughout the United States and overseas, having spent much of her life in Greer, S.C. Although born in Florida, Shirley always considered herself a South Carolinian. Before retiring to Florida in 2003, she had most recently lived in Rock Hill, S.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Gary Wade, and her parents, Adell and Edgar Ketron.

She is survived by her son, Hugh Gary Wade, Jr. of Mt. Dora; daughter, Joy Lynn Burson (Wayne) of Edenton, N.C.; sister, Dorothy Johns of Jacksonville; two grandsons, Brian Liverman and Stephen Liverman, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; granddaughter, Meredith Liverman of Virginia Beach; and two great grandchildren.

Private burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, S.C. A memorial celebration will be held at a later date in South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
