Steve Alan Drake, 77, of Mount Dora FL, passed away on September 18 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.

Steve was born on December 1, 1946, to Woodland and Linda Drake in Acushnet, MA. After graduating from Fairhaven High School in 1964, he earned a BS in engineering at Southern Massachusetts University followed by a Masters in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Louisville.

After graduation, Steve started his first job at General Electric kickstarting a long career in manufacturing management.

While in high school, Steve met his high school sweetheart Linda Silva and were later wed in 1968 and have 2 children, Sherri Caneer (Troy) and Darryl Drake (Shawn).

Steve enjoyed his family time, playing on his company's softball teams, coaching youth football and girls' softball. Steve could often be found working on old cars (did a full body restoration of a 1958 corvette), building furniture and fixing anything and everything around the house.

During his 56-year marriage to Linda, Steve's employment took them all over the country, moving the family 21 times before retirement in Florida.

Steve was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Linda, children Sherri and Darryl, brother Paul, sisters Marlene and Donna, nieces Ruth Ann and Carol and nephew Christian.

No services to be held – donations can be made to Alzheimer's research.
