Teresa A. Cheatham (Miller), age 85, passed away surrounded by her family on May 11, 2024, in Tavares, FL. She was born on January 14, 1939, in Palatka, FL, to Marshall and Evelyn (Whittle) Miller. She moved with her family to Tavares, FL, in 1943. She was a 1957 graduate of Tavares High School. Teresa was a Correctional Officer for over 20 years and retired in 2000 to help care for her grandchildren. She was the first female officer to work in a male institution in the state of Florida and was voted Correctional Officer of the Year while working at Lake Correctional Institution.

She married Bobby Cheatham on June 14, 1982, and they were married for almost 20 years before he passed away in 2001. Bobby was the true love of her life, and they enjoyed spending time and exploring the mountains of North Carolina. Teresa lived life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a huge heart, and would help anyone in need.

Teresa is survived by her children/step-children, Lisa Herd (Larry), Leslie Maxwell (David), Tina Poe (Bret), Russell Cheatham (Lisa), and Becky Boxx (Eric); 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; brother Marshall "Buck" Miller (Sonya); and her nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Bobby, sister Dorothy "Dotsy" White, step-son Roger Cheatham, and granddaughter Katie Seay.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 18, 2024, at the Country Club of Mount Dora, 1900 Country Club Blvd, Mount Dora, FL., 32757, at 1 pm. Funeral arrangements are being taken care of by Allen J. Harden Funeral Home, 1800 North Donnelly St, Mount Dora, FL 32757. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Frank and Helen DeScipio Hospice House in Tavares, FL.
