Obituary

On August 31, 2022 we all lost an original hero, Terry Scott, who joined our Lord in Heaven at the age of 80. He loved the USA and was a proud Army Veteran. Terry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Scott, sister Carolyn Scott, four children, Lori Gardner, Tedd Lannert, Tom Lannert, Tim Scott and their spouses Kerry Gardner, Brenda Lannert and Lesley Scott. He was blessed with seven grandchildren including Tara Kelley, Ryan Lannert, Joseph Lannert, Charity Lannert, Candace Perkins, Lizzy Scott, and Tabitha Manapat. The blessings continued with 12 great grandchildren, Mea Kelley, Jesse Jr Kelley, Chloe Lannert, Alexa Lannert, Connor Lannert, Ella Perkins, Oliver Perkins, Brantley Spivey, Aubree Lannert, Axel Spivey, June Scott, and Lillian Mae.

Terry was born July 28, 1942 in Springfield, Ohio. He graduated from Northwestern High School and attended Ohio State University. Terry married Pat on March 19th, 1966 and began raising their family. Terry loved coaching sports and, every chance he got, he would coach his 3 sons in sports and other important activities. He worked for International Harvester, then became manager of King Quick convenience store where he discovered his passion for the grocery business and bought his first grocery store in Catawba, OH, Scott's Market. After Pat's arthritis started to get unbearable in the cold winters of Ohio, and wanting to make a move to make sure they had all their boys in the same area, they set their sights on Florida. In April 1981, they purchased Mount Plymouth Grocery store in Mount Plymouth, Florida and the rest was, as they say, history.

Terry and Pat spent a lot of their lives building and working hard in their store and helping change the lives of the East Lake Community. They were major contributors of charitable activities including the Haunted Woods of Camp Challenge, the first being held in their backyard, created and run by their sons and along with Mary Jo Moseley, JJ's Hog Roast benefiting Camp Challenge. During the fire that burned down the Central Florida Academy, they stayed up through the night feeding the firemen and officials. In appreciation, the Mount Plymouth residents named their first park, Scott Park, to honor their dedication to the community.

After selling the store in 1998, Terry and Pat spent all the time they could with family and friends, cheering on Grandkids and Great Grandkids at sports and school functions. They enjoyed dancing, playing dominoes with their friends from the Corvette Club, traveling and enjoying life to its fullest. They were active members of the Elks, spending their summers as chaperones at the Florida Elks Youth Camp and American Legion playing Santa and Mrs. Claus right up until last Christmas.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday September 10 th , 2022 from 6pm-9pm at the American Legion Post 35, 920 South Highland St, Mount Dora, FL 32757.

He was and is loved by his whole family and made an impact in every person's life that he touched.
