IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Treva Foley
Childress
February 6, 1938 – February 13, 2025
Born on February 6, 1939, in Cairo, Georgia, Treva Wyvette McClelland, was both a daughter and sister, which laid the foundation for a caring legacy that would shape her life.
Treva spent part of her childhood helping her father, Roy, and her brothers in the tobacco fields in Georgia, while also helping her mother, Fay, in managing the home and looking after her younger sibling, Kevin. As a teenager, her family moved to Lane Park on Lake Harris in central Florida, a change that would greatly impact her life during her late teens and twenties. It was during this pivotal time that Treva graduated from Tavares High School, where she took part in many school activities and clubs. She also became a wife under the name Treva Foley. Treva then fully embraced her role as a devoted mother to her daughter, Terri. Treva's new family moved to Merritt Island and Cocoa Beach before returning to Mount Dora.
As a young wife, she wholeheartedly embraced her duties as a loving mother and aunt, which suited her nurturing nature perfectly. Alongside her professional pursuits, Treva's love for crafts, knack for interior decorating, and artistic talent inspired her to start Daisy-A-Day Florist when she returned to Mt. Dora. It's safe to say that as a florist, Treva truly "blossomed," building friendships with numerous community members and fellow churchgoers.
Treva certainly had many roles in life, but she didn't see herself as a globetrotter. Instead of hopping on planes or cruise ships, she favored the freedom of road trips for her travels. Almost every year, Treva and her friends would pack up a camper to embark on journeys to delightful towns like Helen, Georgia, discovering the striking landscapes of the southeastern United States.
As Treva's life progressed, she found herself needing to look back as well. Balancing the roles of sister, single working mother, aunt, and grandmother, she also took on the responsibility of caring for her aging parents.
During her life's journey, Treva found comfort in her church community, where she first crossed paths with Roger. Embracing her new identity as his spouse, Treva Childress was a devoted and nurturing wife. The couple settled comfortably in Mt. Dora, initially balancing their careers before transitioning into retirement, and they cherished their occasional getaways to Englewood Beach.
Sadly, as a gentle and loving person to so many, Treva passed away the night of February 13, 2025, with Roger by her side, after an extended period of receiving care.
Treva Foley Childress was preceded in passing by her beloved parents, Fay and Roy McClelland, as well as her siblings Mickey, Royce, Hilda, Bruce, and Doug ("Corkey"), along with numerous cherished friends. Treva leaves behind her husband, Roger; her daughter, Terri, son-in-law, Doug, and granddaughter, Nichole. She is also survived by her brother, Kevin, and his wife, Linda, along with their daughters, Kimmy, Corey, and Cortney, and their families, as well as her niece, Celia and her family, and other nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 10-11am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11am. Both services will take place at Allen J. Harden Funeral Home located at 1800 N.
