Obituary

William H. “Bill” Bolt, age 80, passed away quietly in Mt. Dora (Sorrento), FL, after months of battling surgical complications. He was born on February 27, 1946, in Patuxent River, Maryland, to William H. “Pete” Bolt, Jr., and Lila Lawrence Bolt. As a child of a career Navy pilot, Bill, lived in various cities, but always close to the ocean. He shared a love of sailing with his father and eventually helped to build their family sailboat. He attended Auburn University and worked in the IT field as an electrical engineer, which led to projects in Mexico and China. He had a lifelong thirst for learning and adventure, whether it was marine electronics, flying or climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. He spent his later years in Houston, TX, before moving to Mt. Dora, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lisa Wernecke Bolt, and his brother, Steve Bolt. Surviving family include his sons, John Bolt and wife, Jeannette, of League City, TX, James Bolt and wife, Rie, of Okinawa, Japan, daughter, Bevin Horne and husband, Ken, of Alvin, TX, sister, Jackie Bolt Chesnutt and husband, Bill, of Monroe, NC, seven grandchildren, as well as great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was especially grateful to the caring staff at Rose Eldercare of Sorrento, as well as Compassionate Care Hospice.

Arrangements are being handled by Allen J. Harden Funeral Home in Mt. Dora, FL. Bill’s wishes were to have his cremated remains scattered at sea, with no formal services.
