Willis Chester Adkins, 88
Peacefully passed away in Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Florida, January 26, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Willis was born to the late Willis N. and Dorothy (Eden) Adkins, on December 20, 1928 in Soldier Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Geraldine (Mullins), his Daughter Norma Jean Tipton (50) and his step-son Harold (Charles) Mullins (63), Nadine Clark (Adkins), Muncie, IN.
Willis served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
While living in Ashland Kentucky, he worked 37 years as foreman at Union Concrete Pipe Company in Ceredo, West Virginia.
Upon retiring he moved to Ocoee, Florida and worked for Pro-Golfer Arnold Palmer as Lawn Service Specialist, at the Isleworth Country Club Estates.
Where he retired for the second time,
Willis was an accomplished musician, he played several instruments which included the fiddle, guitar, bass guitar, and mandolin. He was also an accomplished vocalist.
In the 60,s Willis started the Heaven Bound Quartet, With his wife Geraldine, and the neighbors, Obby and Mary James, performing gospel music, for a number of years over three states.
In recent years he played bass guitar and fiddle at the Temple Freewill Baptist Church in Winter Garden, Florida.
Willis is survived by his son Chet (Linda) Adkins, 2 Sisters, Wilma Boggs, and Yvonne (Jack) Woods, 1 brother Bob (Dalphie) Adkins.
He is also survived by 8 grandchildren,13 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, and 5 great great great grandchildren.
He is also survived by a large number of nieces and nephews.
Willis his music and great sense of humor will surely be missed.
With the help of the Lord, he lived a great life.
